Click on the title of your course below to find out how the topics on this web site relate to the sections in the specification for your course. Use the links provided to search for tutorials, past questions, web guides or tests that may be useful. You should find this web site helpful whichever A-level or similar course you are studying.

Note that not all the material in a topic on this web site may be relevant to a particular unit or module on your course - always refer to the detailed content in your specification if you are in any doubt.

Most chemistry courses which started in September 2008 have new specifications. Both these new specifications and the old specifications are listed below. Note that the Nuffield A-level Chemistry course (administered by Edexcel) has no longer been available to start since September 2008.

Where a specification has been replaced, the old specification will continue to be examined for a year or more. This is so that students who started their courses before September 2008 can complete their A-level. Consult your exam board, using the links below, for details about which units are being examined and when.

The list of topics for AS and A2 is much the same for all advanced chemistry courses, and the subject content has not changed significantly for the new specifications. However, more emphasis has been placed on 'How science works' and 'Green chemistry' in the new courses.

We have sometimes referred to the Nuffield Students' Book in the past, when answering questions and writing tutorials. So it can help if you have access to a copy of the fourth edition of the Nuffield Advanced Chemistry Students' Book in your chemistry library.
