What is the oxidation no of Ni in Ni(CO)4. The answer is 0, but how do you get that?
080608
Corrie writes ....
The oxidation state of Ni is 0 because the ligand (CO molecules) is a neutral molecule, as is the Ni(CO)4 complex. Therefore the Ni carries no charge, so it is in oxidation state zero
