I am having trouble working out the chemical equation for the addition of magnesium to ethanoic acid. I am unsure of the salt that is produced.
The salt is magnesium ethanoate with Mg2+ ions and CH3CO2- ions. So there are two ethanoate ions for every magnesium ion in the formula.
