Where I can get the delta H of formation value for magnesium ethanoate (acetate)?
The NIST on-line Chemistry WebBook is a very comprehensive data base.
In this case you have to search with magnesium acetate (rather than ethanoate). Since this salt is a solid you need to select 'condensed phase' rather than 'gas phase'.
The compound comes up when you hit search and there is some information. I am afraid that it gives no value for the standard enthalpy change of formation for either the hydrated or the anhydrous salt.
Risk assessment
Before attempting any practical work based on the advice and suggestions on this website, you must do the following. Identify any hazards, assess the risks from these hazards, and then decide appropriate control measures to reduce the risks. You must have these approved by those in authority in your school or college laboratory. Do not rely on what is said on this website.
