Read our general notes on Risk Assessment
For the Nuffield Advanced Chemistry Special Studies (Materials science) exam, do we have to learn/work through/be familiar with the experiments that accompany the text (Experiments 1-9 in Materials science ISBN 0 904956 32 6)? Please advise.
Ulex says
Yes, the Edexcel Chemistry (Nuffield) specification does say that you are expected to be familiar with the experiments and to have carried them out. You will not be asked to describe an experiment in full (as used to be the case in previous specifications) but you could be asked to suggest results or explain why a particular procedure is followed and other things of this kind which assume a practical familiarity with the experiments in the course.
Risk assessment
Before attempting any practical work based on the advice and suggestions on this website, you must do the following. Identify any hazards, assess the risks from these hazards, and then decide appropriate control measures to reduce the risks. You must have these approved by those in authority in your school or college laboratory. Do not rely on what is said on this website.
