In the Chemistry (Nuffield) specification there is a 'Content' bit and a 'Skills' bit. The content just seems to be an outline of what is in the Nuffield Chemistry students book, so I am assuming that things we need to know/memorise are on the skills list. Is this correct?

Examiners are required to construct papers on the basis of what is on the ‘Skills’ list, amplified by what is on the ‘Content’ section. Generally speaking, therefore, your safe assumption is that if it is in the Nuffield Chemistry Students’ Book and not part of a ‘Background Reading’ passage, it is fair game for the Chemistry (Nuffield) exam. You should also note that Topics 16 onwards are examined in Unit Test 6, in which you have the use of the Nuffield Chemistry Students’ Book and the Nuffield Book of Data.
It is part of the Nuffield style that reproduction of facts is only part of what is required. You are sometimes tested on your understanding of principles so that some questions use a context which is deliberately unfamiliar. The best preparation for the exam is to have done the course conscientiously.

Before attempting any practical work based on the advice and suggestions on this website, you must do the following. Identify any hazards, assess the risks from these hazards, and then decide appropriate control measures to reduce the risks. You must have these approved by those in authority in your school or college laboratory. Do not rely on what is said on this website.
