What are the three shapes found in ethanoic acid? (Is it tetrahedral, linear and V-shape or is it tetrahedral, planar and V-shape?)

Corrie writes ...

The 4 bonds around the CH3- group in ethanoic acid will be arranged tetrahedrally. The carbon and oxygen atoms in the -COOH group will all be in one plane, with the O-C-O bond angle approximately 120 degrees - i.e. V-shaped.

Risk assessment
Before attempting any practical work based on the advice and suggestions on this website, you must do the following. Identify any hazards, assess the risks from these hazards, and then decide appropriate control measures to reduce the risks. You must have these approved by those in authority in your school or college laboratory. Do not rely on what is said on this website. For further guidance see our tutorial on Risk Assessment.
