The question 'How much?' is very important to chemists. When making something by chemical synthesis, chemists need to be able to work out how much of the reactants to use and how much product they will get. As analysts chemists use their skills to work out how much of each element or compound is present in a sample.

Part of the chemists 'toolkit' is the ability to carry out chemical calculations from formulae and equations and to be able to interpret titration results.
